Richmond, VA — The Libertarian Party nominated Matt Waters as their candidate for Virginia’s upcoming U.S. Senate.
Waters is a life-long Virginian and political consultant based in Alexandria.
“The Virginian,” Waters’ campaign slogan, refers to the fact that he is the only announced candidate in the race for U.S. Senate who was born and raised in Virginia.
A major theme of Waters’ campaign is his desire to implement revolutionary change within the U.S. federal government. Chief among Matt’s concerns is the staggering $21 trillion in debt the federal government has accrued.
As senator, Matt would seek to restore liberty to the American people by limiting the size and scope of the federal government. As bloated as the U.S. Government is, he knows it will require tough decision-making in order to undo the irresponsible fiscal decisions of the past.
“The Libertarian Party believes that the income tax is theft, and I wholeheartedly agree. Our paychecks do not belong to Washington. They belong to us. It is our money, our property. If Virginians want to keep their hard earned money, we must drastically cut government spending.”
“Which is more important, being forced to pay for the failed War on Poverty, the failed War on Drugs, the failed War on Terror, and unconstitutional and ineffective federal departments, or keeping more of our hard-earned money?”
As a long-time libertarian, Matt knows that in order to drastically change the public policies that have led our country astray, we will need politicians who are independent of the failed political parties of the past.
“Virginia’s motto, ‘Sic Semper Tyrannis’ is emblazoned upon our state flag. And my campaign for U.S. Senate will fly under the banner of Virginia, ‘Thus Always to Tyrants.’ The tyrant today is no king, it is a massive welfare-warfare state funded by taxpayers. I am calling on Virginians to help me abolish the income tax, cut and privatize current federal programs, including bringing U.S. troops home, and closing multiple federal departments.”
